Huskies capture Shoveller Tourney
Uchegbu named Tournament MVP

Ikeobi Uchegbu scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds to give the Saint Mary’s Huskies a 71-66 victory over the St. Francis Xavier X-Men in the championship game of the Rod Shoveller Memorial basketball tournament at Dalhousie University on Sunday.
Uchegbu was named the tournament most valuable player.
Mark MacLaughlin contributed 16 points to the win and Joey Haywood had 12 points and six rebounds. Miguel Pink was named played of the game after registering 11 points.
St. F.X.’s Christian Upshaw led all scorers with 21 points and Jeremy Dunn had 11.
Upshaw and Dunn both made the tournament all-star team, along with SMU’s Simon Marr, Dalhousie’s Simon Farine and Ottawa’s Josh Gibson-Bascombe.
Gee-Gees 72, Tigers 52: Donnie Gibson poured in 20 points to help Ottawa win the third-place game over Dalhousie.
Gibson-Bascombe added 19 points and eight rebounds for the Gee-Gees and Warren Ward had 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Farine paced Dal with 22 points and eight rebounds.
Voyageurs 79, Axemen 69: In the fifth-place game, Isiah Pasquale dropped 19 points for Laurentian.
Manny Pasquale chipped in 11 points and five rebounds and Georges Serresse also hit for 11.
Alexandre Traikov had a solid day for Acadia, scoring 19 points and hauling down 15 rebounds. Jonathan Kamba and Casey Fox each added 15 points.
Stingers 62, Golden Hawks 60: Decee Krah netted 18 points as Concordia edged Wilfrid Laurier in the seventh-place game.
Evens Laroche recorded 14 points, six rebounds and four steals and Vali Lazarescu had 12 points.
Kale Harrison led Laurier with 18 points and Jesse MacDonald had 14.
