The second seeded Saint Mary's University Huskies edged the Cape Breton Capers 2-1 Sunday evening to capture the 2010 Subway AUS men's soccer championship hosted by the Université de Moncton.
It is the 12th Atlantic conference title for the Saint Mary's program and their first since 2005.

First-year striker Elvir Gigolaj (London, ON), who had the overtime winner in a 3-2 victory over the Dalhousie Tigers in Saturday's semifinal, netted the eventual game-winner Sunday, just one minute after Cape Breton's Shayne Hollis had tied it 1-1 with 31 minutes left in the contest.

Saint Mary held a 1-0 lead at the half after third-year midfielder David Inglis (London, ON) opened the scoring for the Huskies 13 minutes into the game.

The championship final was moved to later in the evening after wet conditions brought on by weekend weather in the maritimes delayed both Saturday's and Sunday's matches and relocated the games to the artificial playing surface at Moncton's Rocky Stone Field.

The Huskies will represent the Atlantic conference this week at the 2010 CIS men's soccer championship hosted by the University of Toronto.
