Saint Mary's Teams up with MInor Hockey Female Players
Halifax, 13 January 2011 – Hockey Nova Scotia (HNS) and Saint Mary’s (SMU) Huskies Female hockey team have teamed up to showcase minor-aged female players.
Starting tomorrow, Friday, January 14, 2011, minor-aged female teams will be featured throughout various SMU Husky Women’s home games.
Tomorrow’s Friday, January 14, 2011 home game, will have the Cole Harbour Female Peewee team warming up with the SMU Huskies starting at 6:25pm and the game will feature the Cole Harbour Female Novice team in a mini-game during the first intermission.
Saturday’s home game, January 15, 2011, will feature Bedford Female Peewee and Novice teams in the same set-up.
Both games will be held at the Saint Mary’s University Arena, on SMU campus in Halifax. Both warm-ups will begin at 6:25pm and game-time is 7:00pm.
“This is such an exciting thing for young female hockey players. They get the chance to participate in an event with the role models that they aspire to. We are so appreciative of the Saint Mary’s Female hockey program for providing our female players with this opportunity that they will remember forever,” said Joanne Hughes chair of HNS Female Council.
