The defending AUS champion Saint Mary’s Huskies have announced their 2009 football recruiting class, which includes former Canadian junior player of the year Tristan Jones of Edmonton.

Jones, the son of former CFL star Milson Jones, will join younger brother Devon in the Huskies backfield this fall. The brothers, both tailbacks, are former teammates with the Edmonton Wildcats.

Tristan Jones, who was Canada’s best junior player in 2007, began last year at Laval, but didn’t stay.

"The guy is special, there’s no question about it," head coach Steve Sumarah said Monday.

Sumarah’s recruiting list includes five players from Nova Scotia. Offensive lineman Matt Albright (Prince Andrew), receiver Mark Bradbury (Sackville), receiver/kicker Brett Lauther (Cobequid), defensive lineman Dave Naugler (Sir John A. Macdonald) and offensive lineman Kyle Whalen (Dartmouth) will try to make the cut when camp opens late next month.

Others on the list are receiver Ahmed Borhot (Calgary), linebacker Aaron Crawford (Medicine Hat, Alta.), receiver Dave Raborn (Calgary), defensive back Cody Hillhouse (Vancouver), receiver Kenneth Traegar (New Westminster, B.C.), defensive lineman Jacob Bulmer (Sackville, N.B.), receiver Cody Stewart (Fredericton), quarterback Mack Blewett (Burlington, Ont.), offensive lineman Tyler Goldsworthy (Bowmanville, Ont.), defensive back Derrick Hurst (Windsor, Ont.), offensive lineman Paul Katsetos (Hamilton, Ont.), offensive lineman Jacob Myall (Pickering, Ont.), linebacker Kyle Norris (Ottawa) and offensive lineman Guillaume Gagnier (Montreal).
