Projects Start2Finish is partnering with the Saint Mary’s Huskies Football Program to present Huskies Football 101 – Ladies Only Football Seminar. It will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2010, at the Saint Mary’s Tower Courtside Lounge.
The Huskies Football 101, Ladies Only Seminar has been created as a means to reach female football fans and generate a new found knowledge for the game and a better understanding of the fundamentals of football. Huskies football coach Steve Sumarah says, “This is the first time we have attempted to run this program and we are very excited to be partnering with Projects Start2Finish in making this happen. Having an opportunity to educate a new fan base is great for our community development and gives the female audience a better perspective of what football is all about. This will be a fun and social night that the Huskies Football Team is really looking forward to being a part of.”
The seminar will consist of a chalk talk covering positions and strategies for offense, defense, specials teams, basic rules and uniform and equipment demonstration with special guest Sue Uteck. It will be a relaxed, fun-filled evening including question and answer sessions with Huskies Head Coach Steve Sumarah, the 2010 Huskies’ coaching staff and players. The ladies who take part will be able to impress everyone with their football knowledge.
The event has been modeled after the Calgary Stampeders highly successful "It's a Snap" event which draws sell-out crowds annually and is a popular event with NFL teams across the USA. Huskies Football 101, Ladies Only Seminar is presented by C100, and kicks off with a networking reception and a complimentary glass of Jackson Triggs wine. Participants will also receive a Huskies Football Playbook and gift bag which includes a pair of tickets to a Huskies regular season football game.
Sponsors are C100, Football Nova Scotia, Fusion Print & Imaging, Jackson Triggs Vintners, LifeMark Physiotherapy and O’Regan’s. Following the session, there will be a post event as seminar participants have the opportunity to mingle with Huskies coaching staff and alumni players.
This fun, interactive evening of friends and football makes for the perfect girls’ night out. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the Saint Mary’s Tower or by calling Linda Gould, at the SMU Athletic Office during normal office hours (9 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday) 420-5440.
