Libero Callgahan, CEC Cougars Captain commits to SMU

Saint Mary’s Huskies women’s volleyball is pleased to announce that Anastasia Callaghan has committed to the Huskies line up for 2010-2011.
Callaghan, a 5’5 libero comes from Truro, Nova Scotia and is considered to be one of the top players in Nova Scotia. Callaghan was captain of the CEC Cougars that recently captured the volleyball provincial title (2007, 2008, and 2009), MVP of the 2009 Club Provincials (Champions in 2008 and 2009), a member of the Nova Scotia Canada Games Team that finished 4th this past summer, and recently named MVP for the Nova Scotia 18 & Under Prep League.
“I am very confident with my decision to attend Saint Mary’s University and excited to be playing on the volleyball team. Darren is a great coach and adds a unique intensity to his practices, which is what I like. All the girls on the team are awesome and hard workers. They have proven themselves as competitive players with their recent AUS Championships and I would like to help them continue with their drive to win each year” commented Callaghan.
“I am really excited to have Anastasia join our Huskies family” said Coach Russell. “She brings great leadership skills and will make an immediate impact to our program. She is an extremely hard worker both on and off the court and she is a player that knows how to win!”
