Question: If I applied for residence for the entire year can I withdrawal from residence after first semester is over? Also, can I cancel my meal plan?

Answered by: Aryn
Answer: Hi there! You should contact residence.life@smu.ca as soon as you know you plan on withdrawing from residence for the specifics, but here’s how it generally works: If you are continuing in classes at SMU and only withdrawing from residence, you forfeit the $500 residence deposit and are responsible for 60 days of charges, not exceeding the 8 month contract. Ie, if you withdraw at the end of the first semester, you will lose your $500 deposit and be charged for 60 days of second semester’s charges for your room. Please get in touch with residence.life@smu.ca for the specifics of your case!
