Question: When is the best time to declare your major? I mean it's written in the academic calendar that we need to complete 120 credit hours to declare a major in Biology, but how should we divide 120 credit hours for a 4 year Bachelor of Science degree?

Answered by: Emma
Answer: Hi Monika, I think 120 credit hours is actually the full amount of credits you need to complete your degree. Science students can declare their major after 30 credit hours are completed. You need to get the form, have your academic advisor sign off on it, and submit it to the Service Centre in McNally Main 108, available along with more info at this link: http://www.smu.ca/academics/declaring-your-major.html. The advisor should also be able to explain to you how you can plan your degree to complete your Bachelor of Science with your major of choice.
