Question: I am a varsity athlete here on a scholarship. I am unable to register for my courses as there is a hold on my account, although I have no control over this since I do not manage my scholarship. Last semester, this issue was dealt with too late and I was not able to register for my required courses. I do not want this to happen again. Please advise on who I should be speaking with to get this cleared up ASAP. Thanks!

Answer: Oh, my.. Definitely a tough position to be in and one that I have experienced myself. The best person to talk to would be your coach. Schedule a meeting with them as soon as possible in order to sit down with them and discuss your scholarship, when you can be expecting it to come through, etc. After this, I would recommend heading to the Service Centre located in McNally Main and discuss your situation with them. They may be able to look into things a bit further from you, or see what sort of allowances they can give, if any. I know the situation is stressful but it can be resolved with a few conversations with the right people, and your coach is definitely the first person on the list, at least in my case it was. In the mean time, have all your courses laid out so that when the hold is lifted, registration is a breeze! The power is in your hands now, go forth and use it wisely. Good luck!
