Question: How is the tuition calculated. I am current trying to use the tuition calculator but not really understanding it. Please walk me through it. If I want an Undergraduate in Accounting, is that one course? I am currently a 12th grade student in the Bahamas looking forward to attending college this fall. My parents and I are going through the online application. Thank you for your assistance,

Answer: Hi, your tuition is calculated based on how many courses you take. Every course has its own rate and the course rates for international student are as follows- 1. Science: $ 1603 per course 2. Business: 1617$ per course 3. Arts: 1544$ per course So you need 120 credit hours to graduate which means 30 credits or 10 courses per academic year for four years. You can also take a few courses in the summer and reduce your course load in the Sept- April academic year. The tuition calculator calculates the total amount based on how many courses you take, health and medical insurance fees, residence depending on where you live on campus, meal plans are added if you choose to take the meal plan. Also, the scholarships are deducted to give you the total amount for that academic year. Also, SMUSA has certain fees which are added to the total amount. Finally, a bachelors in accounting is not one course but includes a lot of accounting courses and other business courses you will have to take alongside of electives based on the requirements of your major. The requirements about your major and what/how many courses to take is available in the SMU academic calendar found on the SMU website. Hope this helps you!
