Question: Hi there. I'm just wondering if you get any say on who you share a room with? Thank you!

Answer: Hi Hannah, Yes, it is possible for you to help choose your roommate! For example, if you have a friend that is also living in residence next year, you can live together if you both request to do so. Otherwise, the roommate survey on the Housing Portal will be used to either help you chose a roommate or assign you one. You can browse for potential roommates upon completing your survey (only if you checked off the box to be included in the roommate search). You will be able to see students who responded to the survey in a similar way (ie: similar wake up times, similar studying habits, etc); therefore, it is best to be as honest as possible when filling out the survey! You can see your matches on the Housing Portal by clicking on the tab labeled Roommate Requests by clicking on the link “Browse Matching Roommates”. Using the roommate matches, you will only be assigned to live together if you both choose to do so. Otherwise, the Housing Office will use your roommate survey to assign you with another student! Liz
