Question: Im entering my first year in the Arts, and im wondering if there is many class presentation to be done for any course? If there is, is there any supports for doing presentations infront of the class? I have always dreaded doing presentations infront of class that i would skip the class, and that is not a option for University.

Answer: Hi Alex! In my own experience I haven't done too many presentations, but they definitely are a part of some courses. Some profs choose to use them, and others do not. I too dreaded presentations but got through it. Often they were group projects so I had the support of other peers in doing the presentation. Some professors will allow for alternative arrangements so that people can do something else instead of presenting, but for other courses that isn't an option. In my entire first year I only had 1 presentation, and in my entire undergrad degree I had 4 group presentations total, so I wouldn't be too worried about it at this point. Just make sure to speak to professors beforehand to let them know of your apprehensions towards presenting. They should be able to help you somehow. Personally, I became much better at presenting in front of crowds during my time at SMU, and I hope that at the end of your degree that you find the same!
