Question: My next term starts in September. Can I prepay for some of my tuition? Ex/ I pay $200 to SMU right now, would it go towards my fall tuition payment? Thanks for the help!

Answer: Hi Andrew! You can definitely make prepayments for tuition. This is sometimes necessary for students to be able to make full payment before the deadline of a semester. International students often take this option to avoid delays in sending money internationally closer to the deadline. Check out: http://www.smu.ca/future-students/payment-options.html for accepted payment methods. I recommend that you send an email to the Service Centre at service.centre@smu.ca so that we can put a note on your account so that anyone who sees the credit on your account knows it is for an upcoming semester. Sometimes when you have a credit on your account you may get an automated email asking if you would like a refund. You can just reply back to such an email to remind us that the money is a prepayment for a future registered semester.
