Answer: 1. If you plan to live outside, it totally depends on the lifestyle you choose to live in that determines your budget. It depends if you want to live alone, or with people, and how many people, how far is the school from important places like downtown or universities. In my opinion, if you plan to live alone, an apartment generally cost $1000-$1300 per month, with 2-3 bedroom apartments, if you choose to live with others, apartments are for $1400-$1700, but the cost is divided evenly between all. For groceries, it costs about $300-$400 per month. For internet, if you want a good connection, it costs around $100. If you wish to bus, and you are a student, you can get a U-pass from SMUSA(Student body for SMU) which will allow you to ride buses, and you pay for it annually with your usual fees. 2. Getting a job can be challenging, and for a full time student, it depends on how much you wanna work in a week, as the pay is based hourly. If you choose to work at SMU, the minimum wage is about $11 per hour, and outside SMU, minimum wage is about $10.60 . It really depends where you work and how much you work that will determine your salary monthly. There are a lot of people looking for jobs, so it might be a little tough to get a job really soon. In my opinion, you should work and get some experience with volunteering for things, and after that , try and get a job. 3. Being an international student myself, I didn't really apply for many jobs.If you plan to work part time, it'll be tough, but you just might be able to manage your living expenses. I'm not really sure about.
