Question: What happens if I fail a course?

Answered by: Nechelle
Answer: If you fail a course, that grade would appear on your transcript and will affect your GPA for the remainder of your time at SMU. However to avoid this, you can redo the course to replace the failing grade, you must note that the new grade and old grade would appear on your transcript, but only the new grade would affect your GPA. If you fail a required course, you need to do it over in order to get a passing grade to graduate. Therefore, you should ensure that you check the Academic Calendar on the SMU website to see your required courses and the grades needed to graduate.
