Room and Telephone Numbers
The Residence Department does not provide the room numbers of students to persons making inquiries (except to University officials). It is the student's responsibility to provide their room number to friends and family members.
Cable TV, Telephone and Internet Services
The University provides Cable in the residences. Frequently the students on each floor pool their resources, rent a TV for the year and install it in the common lounge on the floor. Basic cable service is provided in all lounges and apartments.
In all three Residences, private, local telephone and voice mail services are provided at each student's desk, and are included in their residence fees. Service is provided with a local switching system rather than direct in dial (DID) so people calling you from outside will dial 491-8668 and then enter your 4-digit local followed by the (#-button). The phone is the property of Saint Mary's University and you will be responsible for its care.
For more information on the telephone services please contact the Billing Clerk / Customer Service Representative at 902.420.5001 .
Students also have access to the campus computer network and unlimited Internet from the comfort of the desk in your bedroom. You will need your own computer, either desktop or laptop, and a brand name Ethernet card installed in your computer including a RJ45 patch cord. You will need to register your computer's Ethernet card MAC address with the University's Information Technology Support and Services Department (ITSS).
To obtain internet access on campus you can register your computer for internet in residence or for wireless access information, please visit:

Voice Mail Services
You have a private voicemail-box included in your telephone service. Each bed is assigned a unique extension number. You must contact your telephone customer service representative to activate your telephone extension number and pick-up your telephone information package. Remember: It is your responsibility to give your friends and family your extension number, the University will not give out this information. You must inform the telephone customer service representative if you change rooms or beds because the telephone directory and voicemail must be updated.
