The Ferguson Library for Print-Handicapped Students

This library provides materials and  library services for post-secondary students and professionals who cannot read conventional text due to a disability.  We lend books in alternative format; Audiotape, E-text and MP3.

Hours:

Winter  Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Summer Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m

Location

The Ferguson Library is located on the main floor of the Patrick Power Library on the campus of Saint Mary's University, Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Materials

 

The library provides alternative format of printed materials and offers library assistance to print-challenged individuals.

A collection of  2000 books in alternative format are available to borrow.

Additional materials can be located and borrowed from other institutions nationally and internationally.

A large print and voice synthesizer and a computer terminal with the programs Jaws and Kurzweil is available for using library catalogues and other research tools.

Who May Borrow?

All post secondary students or professionals who are special needs challenged and

require alternative format materials for their work or studies may use the library.

How Long Can Materials Be Borrowed?

Students may borrow materials for the duration of their course. Others may borrow for up to six months.

All materials borrowed from the Ferguson Library must be returned or fines and loss of academic privileges will result.
