Accessing Legacy Email from Home
Legacy Email System is available to Undergraduate Students admitted before September 2010
Users with legacy email accounts can still access them through SMUport or through a client on their computer. These accounts are being phased out, with end-of-life scheduled for October 2015.
If you choose to access your email through a mail client such as Outlook, Eudora or Thunderbird, this page will provide you with the information you need in order to configure your computer to receive email.
Saint Mary's Legacy System enables users to select between IMAP and POP3 service.
POP3: Recommended if you want to access your email from one computer. It downloads messages from the server and saves them on your hard drive.
IMAP: Recommended if you want to access your email from more than one computer. Messages stay on the Saint Mary's server and you view them remotely. This allows you to synchronize inboxes on different computers.
