Information about SMU Exchange Application

Thank you for your interest in the SMU Exchange Program! We look forward to receiving your application. All information that is necessary for completing the application is found on this page. Please check all links thoroughly before you start.

This SMU Exchange Application is only for the study abroad opportunities at Saint Mary’s exchange partner institutions listed in the SMU Exchange Program – Host Institutions List (see below). If you were applying for the Angers Program (jcauville@gmail.com), the UNAM Program (arteaga.andres@gmail.com), or other departmental field study programs, this is not the right form and you must contact the concerning department directly.

Before you apply, please review…

Ready to apply? Please submit the following application documents:

If you have already completed the previous version of the application form, you may still use that form.

Transfer Credit :

Students must have transfer credit hours pre-approved via a Letter of Permission and submit it to the Registrar's Office.  To do this, contact the Academic Advisor of your Faculty. To find out who your academic advisor is, please visit Advice & Advising of Saint Mary's website.

*Note: It is not necessary to have courses approved for transfer credits before you apply for a Study Abroad program; however, you are strongly encouraged to consult your academic advisor about your study plan ahead of time.

Funding:

Please visit the Funding and Awards page under the International Learning section of this website.

The Homburg International Mobility Awards and the AVP/SMUSA International Mobility Awards have been established to support study abroad programs. Please check the eligibility criteria carefully as well as the application deadline on our website. You are strongly recommended to apply for the mobility awards at the same time as study abroad application even if you do not know the results of study abroad application.

Also, see the Financial Planning page under the Before You Go section of this website for information on how to budget your money and balance your finances while overseas.
