Congratulations on making an important step to visit our International Learning website.

Saint Mary's University believes that exposure to other cultures is an important part of a university education. Graduates with cross-cultural experience will be equipped with international competence and well placed to participate in today’s demanding global society. Thus, as a Saint Mary's student you are encouraged to take advantage of on-campus opportunities and to undertake a part of your study in another country or another part of Canada to gain such experience.

International programs may take the form of a semester or year-long residence at another institution, summer program, or a volunteer opportunity. Most programs are open to students from any academic program of study. Credits earned from these programs are applicable to the extent that they fulfill the requirements of each student's own degree program.

Plan well in advance! You must allow time to make academic, logistical, financial, and travel arrangements.  The more thorough your research is, the more successful your experience will be.
