Research Affiliations

The GRI provides an exciting intellectual community for scholars interested in the Atlantic Region.  The GRI has sponsored post-doctoral applications, sabbaticants and visiting scholars in their funding applications.   We have also hosted graduate students and independent researchers.  The GRI offers some limited workshpace, including up-to-date computers, access to a variety of digital equipment (cameras, recorders, microfilm readers) and other amenities such as library access.  For more information on establishing a research affiliation please contact Peter L. Memorandums of Understanding

From time to time, the GRI may initiate or participate in formal memorandums of understanding with other research organizations, universtities or other partners.

 

Sante' Mawio'mi, Sikepne'katik District, signed June 25th, 2010, have agree to work collaboratively to

  • strengthen research capacity on topics pertaining to the Sante’ Mawio’mi, including historical and cultural research, policy research, and research pertaining to natural resources;
  • enhance awareness of traditional aboriginal governance and practices, and of the role of the Sante’ Mawio’mi, through educational and outreach activities
  • jointly foster educational opportunities in First Nations’ communities;
  • jointly sponsor such activities as conferences, workshops and other events that further the aims of both organizations;
  • gain funding for joint projects of mutual benefit;
  • jointly produce publications that advance the aims of both organizations;
  • as far as is practical, provide services to each other that support the aims of both organizations;
  • share information about research and funding possibilities; and
  • assist each other in promoting and publicizing each other’s aims and objectives

Peaceful Schools International , signed July 13, 2010, have agreed to work collaboratively to: 

  • jointly sponsor such activities as conferences, workshops and other events that further the aims of both organizations;
  • assist each other in efforts to gain funding for joint projects of mutual benefit;
  • jointly produce publications that advance the aims of both organizations;
  • as far as is practical, provide services to each other that support the aims of both organizations;
  • share information about research and funding possibilities; and
  • assist each other in promoting and publicizing each other’s aims and objectives

International Institute of Public Engagement , signed July 22, 2010, have agreed to work collaboratively to: 

  • strengthen research capacity on topics pertaining to public engagement in Nova Scotia and internationally;
  • serve as a resource to government, citizen groups, and non-governmental agencies;
  • enhance awareness of models of governance and practices that enhance public engagement;
  • jointly foster educational opportunities to promote public engagement;
  • jointly sponsor such activities as conferences, workshops and other events that further the aims of both organizations;
  • assist each other in efforts to gain funding for joint projects of mutual benefit;
  • jointly produce publications that advance the aims of both organizations;
  • as far as is practical, provide services to each other that support the aims of both organizations;
  • share information about research and funding possibilities;
  • assist each other in promoting and publicizing each other’s aims and objectives; and,
  • to regularly review this MOU to ensure currency and appropriateness
