Parking and Alternate Transportation Information
The University strongly encourages the university community to consider more sustainable forms of transportation such as public transit, walking, biking, or carpooling whenever possible. Visit HRM SmartTrip to arrange a carpool. The University carpool program allows members of the university community to have access to designated/reserved parking, please see the Parking and Alternative Transportation Policy for more details.
Also, take a look at our Sustainability Webpage for more information on how you can get involved with the sustainability initiatives on campus.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM SECURITY
CAMPUS PARKING REGULATIONS
Effective 1 August 2009, the University began enforcing regulations for parking violations using an electronic ticketing system which tracks tickets issued on campus.
If any vehicle has three (3) unpaid Saint Mary’s University parking infractions, Security officers have two options:
They can attach a “wheel boot” to the vehicle. A wheel boot is a device that is designed to prevent vehicles from moving. It consists of a clamp which is attached to the vehicle wheel. The boot will be removed once the unpaid parking infractions and a $50 boot removal fee have been paid.
The second option is to issue a Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) parking ticket and have the vehicle towed off campus at the owner’s expense.
Security may also use the noted enforcement techniques for any of the following violations: parking in a handicap space with no visible permit, parking in fire lane or obstructing a fire hydrant, parking in a marked no parking zone and unauthorized parking in a reserved carpool or underground space.
The manager of Security Services may also have a vehicle in violation towed off-campus at his/her discretion.
To avoid possible problems, please pay parking tickets promptly. Appeals of Saint Mary’s University parking tickets must be filed within 24 hours of issuance.
