Overview
Some students may require specific accommodations when writing tests and examinations.
Special arrangements can be made if a student requires the use of technology, the reading and/or scribing of an exam, or other disability-related accommodations. Because of the nature of the alternative arrangements, extra time may also be required.
It is the responsibility of the student to discuss these accommodations with an Atlantic Centre counsellor at the beginning of each academic semester as they pertain to each course.Student's are responsible to request an accommodation letter from their counsellor for each instructor when accommodations are requested in their course.
The student is responsible for:
- Meeting with instructors as early as possible in the semester so that they know who the student is, that he/she may require extra support and design a plan that works for that instructors course.
- Completing a Test/Examination Accommodation Request Form, and submitting this directly to the Examination Coordinator. A separate form must be completed for each and every test or examination.
- Providing at least ONE WEEK'S notification before tests are written (TWO WEEKS for final exams). This will allow time for professors to respond to the request, and for arrangements to be made at the Atlantic Centre.
- Contacting the Atlantic Centre Examination Coordinator if any changes are made to the date or time of tests/exams after the initial request is submitted.
- Being on time for all tests and exams.
- Following all University rules pertaining to the writing of examinations. (See appropriate sections under Academic Regulations in the Saint Mary's University Academic Calendar.)
To request test/exam accommodations:
- Complete a hard copy of the request form (available at the Atlantic Centre or download PDF) and drop it off with the Examination Coordinator at the Centre.
- Fill in and submit the online request form below.
