The centre provides free, academic support for students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

We offer in-person, one-on-one tutoring, as well as workshops, in-class presentations, and online support.

  • Monday to Friday, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

Writing at a university level demands knowledge of academic requirements and expectations. Our Summer Writing Workshop provides you with an opportunity to develop this knowledge.

The workshop is open to all students attending any university.

1st Annual Academic Writing & English Language Learners Conference

 

Call for papers

October 3-4, 2014 | Saint Mary’s University, Halifax, Nova Scotia

 

The conference is presented by the Saint Mary's University Writing Centre, Centre for Academic and Instructional Development, and TESL Centre and the Atlantic Canadian Writing Centres Committee

 

Any session on a topic related to Academic Writing & English Language Learners is welcome. Successful submissions will include a practical approach that conference attendees can use in their academic communities and writing centres. Sessions will be in a 30-min paper and 1-hour workshop format. Please indicate preference in your submission.

We encourage participation from all academic fields and disciplines.

Writing centre tutor wins IBPA Benjamin Franklin Award Silver Medal

Dr. Lindsey Carmichael, centre science specialist and author of several science books for children, won silver for her book, Fox Talk.

Geography APA Style Guide now available

This new guide will help in preparing assignments in Geogrpahy, including help with plagiarism avoidance, citation, and formatting, as well as providing submission guidelines. Also included is a sample paper.

It is available online, and paper copies may be picked up in the writing centre.
