Student Leadership Recognition Award FAQ

Why should I apply for the Student Leadership Recognition Award?

The SLRA can accompany your degree and it will also be documented on your Co-Curricular Record. It will reinforce your demonstrated leadership qualities and skills during your academic career at Saint Mary’s University.

When is the  application deadline?

Application forms will be available starting January 21, 2014 with a deadline of March 3, 2014 at 4:30 pm. Please note that 10 out of 100 available points will be deducted from applications received between 4:30 pm and 5:00 pm. Applications received after 5:00pm on March 3rd, 2014 will not be considered.

Where can I pick up and drop off the application?

The application is available online in PDF format. You can either email or submit your application along with your unofficial academic transcript to Career Services. Character reference can either be brought over in a sealed envelope or it could be delivered by mail. Once your Co-Curricular Record is ready it will be handed over to Career Services Secretary.

How do I know that I qualified for the SLRA?

Given that the application criteria has been met, you will be qualified for the award and you will be notified via email by March 21, 2014. Three selected recipients per faculty will be advised of the date and time of the ceremony.

If you are qualified to receive the SLRA, but have not been chosen as a recipient for that term, we encourage you to reapply next semester and continue with your involvement in leadership and other co-curricular activities.

Who reviews the applications?

A selection committee called the Student Leadership Recognition Award Adjudication Committee will review the applications.
