Study on the Relevance and Impact of Co-operative Business Education

How to boost co-operative performance through co-operative business education

In late 2013, the Co-operative Business Education Consortium was formed to bring together institutions from around the world that offer co-operative business education programs. The consortium seeks to better understand available programs, foster collaborative efforts, avoid overlap and ensure program relevance. It has grown to 29 members from 17 countries.

With the mandate of the consortium at hand, a partnership was formed between the Co-operative Management Education program at Saint Mary’s University and IRECUS, Université de Sherbrooke. These two institutions were mandated by the 2014 International Summit of Co-operatives, to study the impact and relevance of co-operative business education on a global scale. Consortium members were asked to participate in the study by providing program profiles, and inviting their sector partners and graduates to complete an on-line survey. Results of the study will be unveiled during the Summit’s education forum in Quebec City.
