Continuing Education

In today’s ever changing world of work individuals are having to make more complex career decisions
and are making them more often.   Research shows that thoughtful career decision making is positively
related to a more satisfying and meaningful career.

As a participant of the Take CHARGE program you will walk away with a better understanding of your
skills, and interests and how they fit within today's world of work.  You will develop a plan that is unique,
and action oriented.  You will identify measurable steps to take that will lead towards obtaining a career
that is UNIQUE to you.

Your action plan is an individualized plan.  It will include your goals both within and outside of the program.
It will identify skills to develop, new methods of learning to consider, courses to take, and labour market
interests to explore.

Module 1:  Learning About Yourself

Learning starts with where you are, and self-awareness is the first step.  Participants will learn about
themselves as learners and take a look at what they already know and can do.  What skills and knowledge
do you already possess?  How do you learn best?  What are your transferable skills?

Module 2:  The Emerging World of Work

This session will delve more deeply into the world of work, taking a closer at the changing nature and
structure of work, and assessing participants’ readiness to navigate that world.

Module 3:  Goal Setting and Action Plan

This module is the culmination of the reflection and learning from Modules 1 and 2.  A goal-setting and
planning exercise will lead to the development of a Lifelong Learning plan.
