Mobile Access

Services for Faculty, Staff & Students

Saint Mary's uses Microsoft Office 365 for email and calendar services, which integrates with most mobile devices.

iPhone
Office 365 supports standard IMAP access and ActiveSync access for mobile devices. iPhone or iPad can be set up by going into Settings > Mail, Contacts & Calendars > Add Account and selecting Exchange as the account type. You may be required to enter the following details:

Email: your.name@smu.ca
Server: outlook.office365.com
Domain: smunet.smu.ca
Username: your.name@smu.ca
Password:
Your SMU S-number password

IMAP Settings
Incoming (IMAP) Server: outlook.office365.com
Outgoing (SMTP) Server: smtp.office365.com (or your Internet provider’s SMTP server if you are off-campus)
Username: your.name@smu.ca
Password:
Your SMU S-number password
Use SSL: Yes

Blackberry
Blackberry 10 smartphones support ActiveSync access, which can be set up by going into Settings > Accounts > Email, Calendar and Contacts > Advanced. Select Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and provide the following information:

Description: SMU (or your choice)
Domain: smunet.smu.ca
Username: your.name@smu.ca
Email address: your.name@smu.ca
Password: Your SMU S-number password
Server address: outlook.office365.com
Port: 443
Use SSL: On
Use VPN: Off

While older Blackberry models do not support ActiveSync, university-owned devices can use SMU’s Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) for synchronized, on-the-go email and calendar access. Contact the Help Desk to add your older Blackberry to SMU’s BES service.
