Dr. Zhyznomirska works at the intersection of such fields as migration studies, the politics of post-Soviet countries, and European Union politics. She is interested in the politics of international migration governance, issues of citizenship and belonging, and in transformations in governance of migration in Europe. Dr. Zhyznomirska is also interested in the European Union’s foreign relations with its eastern neighbours – specifically, with Russia and Ukraine, and the EU's impact on these countries. The EU’s external migration relations, the European Neighbourhood Policy, and the EU's relations with Russia are among her current research interests.
