Mr. Cheung left China for Hong Kong in 1954 and completed his high school education there before coming to Canada to study at St. Mary's. He received a B.Sc. and B.Comm. from St. Mary's in 1963 and 1964, then returned to Singapore to join his family's international import and export group, the See Hoy Chan Group. He spent three years trading in rice and sugar with Burma, the Philippines and Thailand and also represented the family group in a joint venture with the Singapore government to set up the only sugar refinery in Singapore. He also drafted specifications for sugar as a national product for the government. In 1967, he set up a refrigerated storage and fishing company. During the early 80s, Mr. Cheung spent five years reorganizing and restructuring his family's group of businesses. He now manages the Teo Cheow Seng group of companies in Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong, Singapore Laces and Labels Pte Ltd., Cheung Brothers Company and See Hoy Chan Ddn Bhd (Penang), which deal in motor cars, real estate, textiles, commodities, engineering works and general trading. Mr. Cheung?s daughter, Kuan-Yin (Karen), is a student in the Faculty of Commerce at Saint Mary's.
