This drop-in service, sponsored by the TESL Centre, is designed to provide one-on-one support to students registered at Saint Mary’s University who is a non-native speaker of English. The ESL/EFL Drop-in is welcoming and informal: no appointment is needed to visit us. We provide support in basic reading, writing, listening and speaking skill development. As well, we can help you develop strategies for:
- Note-taking in the classroom and while reading
- Building your vocabulary
- Understanding expectations of academic culture
- Understanding assignment requirements
- Increasing your participation in the classroom and in group projects
- Improving your specific pronunciation challenges
The ESL/EFL Drop-in Service is a friendly place where you can practice your English conversation skills, or ask any general questions. In addition, you may also email any grammar/language questions you may have to Ms. Thompson at: eslquestions@smu.ca. We are here to help you be more successful.
