Colleen Swinemar

Bachelor of Arts (Honours), Saint Mary's University
Certification in Teaching the English Language to Adults, Halifax.

Having a business background before teaching, Colleen co- founded, owned, operated and managed several restaurants since the age of eighteen.  Though she enjoyed her business ventures, she always had an itch for higher education because of her love of reading and writing.

Saint Mary's University is where she decided to pursue her English degree (although one course was taken in England from The University of Birmingham).  While studying, Colleen was fascinated with ideas and knowledge, and she wanted to combine her education with her love of other cultures.  This is how she got into teaching ESL.

She looks forward to her time in the classroom, but when not teaching she will periodically write for a local newspaper as well as write text book reviews for an international magazine.  Spending time with her family (especially her grandkids), kayaking near her beach, putting on rubber boots to work in her vegetable gardens, and investigating the next place to travel are just some of the things she loves to do.
