The Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees (CanTEST) is a comprehensive test of language ability that includes measures of four language skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening). Scores are reported in each of the four areas using a “band system” that relates test scores to a descriptive statement about the candidate's ability.
An average score of 4.500 is required for unconditional admission to Saint Mary's University. In addition, none of the individual scores may be below 4.0. Other universities may have different requirements.
Candidates are advised that the CanTEST requires the full day, so you should bring a lunch and be prepared to be on campus until late afternoon on testing days.
On the day of the test, please bring a minimum of two pieces of government identification with you (including a picture ID or passport), as well as your registration confirmation.
