Student Activities and Profiles

Students in the Sobey MBA Program

The students in the Sobey MBA Program come from several Canadian provinces and foreign countries. The participants in the program represent many cultures.

Students are drawn from many undergraduate backgrounds. Previous work experience can vary from military, hospital or public sector to start-up ventures, non-profits, banks and multinationals.

The diversity of the participants, in terms of culture and language as well as undergraduate education and work experience makes the program experience unique and rich for all participants. Students learn a great deal from each other.

The program offers a student-centred learning environment. Class sizes are small, especially the electives. This allows for greater interaction among students as well as between students and the faculty member. Faculty members are accessible.

MBA students have a dedicated MBA Lounge space. This space includes a large area for sitting and socializing (which includes a fridge and a microwave), a dedicated computer lab, smaller study rooms and other amenities. Access is restricted to MBA students.

In addition to the academic component of the program, MBA students, through the MBA Society, have the opportunity to participate in many social activities throughout the year, including the MBA Games.

The Sobey MBA Program will not just enhance your knowledge and provide leadership skills, but will also be a place where you will form a network of valuable life-long friendships.

MBA Society

The MBA Society is a student body, with elected officers from the first and second years of the Sobey MBA Program. The society organizes social events and also provides a voice to student issues. The MBA Society has a representative on the MBA Council, which is the governing body of the Sobey MBA Program.

Please browse through the MBA Society pages for more information about the Society and its activities.

Those who will be starting the program next fall and those who are in the first year may be interested in our volunteer mentorship program, which pairs a new student with someone in the second year.

For details and contacts, Please visit the MBA Society Web Site.
