Shyamala C. Sivakumar obtained her B.Eng (Electrical) from Bangalore University, India in 1984. She obtained her M.A.Sc (Eng) and Ph.D from the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Technical University of Nova Scotia (now Dalhousie University), Canada in 1992 and 1997 respectively. She joined Saint Mary's University in 2000. She is an Associate Professor of Computing and Information Systems at the Sobey School of Business, Saint Mary's University, Canada. She is also an Adjunct Associate Professor with the Department of Engineering Mathematics and Internetworking at Dalhousie University, Halifax. She has in excess of 35 peer-reviewed journal papers, book chapters and conference proceedings. Her journal papers have appeared in the IEEE Transactions on Education, IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks, IEEE Canadian Review, Canadian Journal of Electrical and Computer Engineering, International Journal of IP (Internet Protocol) Technology and Internet Research. Her research interests include design of multi-modal biometric authentication systems and the use of internetworking technology for innovative applications in e-education and e-commerce. She is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Nova Scotia and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).
