Dr. Kathryn Kimery joined the Computing and Information Systems (CIS) faculty at Saint Mary's in 1997. She left a career in the natural gas sector in 1991 to return to academia and earn a Ph.D. in Business Administration, with specializations in Management Information Systems, Organization Theory, and International Business from the University of Oklahoma in 1998. Dr. Kimery's research interests center on human and social aspects of information systems implementation and use, including electronic commerce adoption, online communities, computer ethics, and computing careers. Her work has been published in academic journals, including International Business and Economics Research Journal, Journal of Electronic Commerce in Organizations, Journal of Business and Economics Research, Journal of Information Technology Theory and Application, Journal of the Academy of Business Education, and Journal of Business Research. In addition, she has contributed chapters to scholarly books, such as Web Technologies for Commerce and Services Online and Information Security and Ethics: Concepts, Methodologies, Tools, and Applications. Dr. Kimery has presented and published the results of her research at numerous national and international research conferences and has received several Best Paper awards in recognition of her research contributions.
Since her return to academia, Dr. Kimery has been active in service and leadership. She served as Chairperson of the Department of Finance, Information Systems, and Management Science from 2003-2006., and was a founding member and first president (2005-2007) of Saint Mary's Chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma, the international business honor society for AACSB-accredited universities. She has also been active in leadership in the Information Systems research community, serving on the Executive Board of the Southern Association for Information Systems (2001-2006) and as President of that organization for two terms (2002-2004). She has also served as a reviewer for numerous research journals and as both session chair and reviewer for various research conferences.
Dr. Kimery has taught a broad spectrum of courses at Saint Mary's, as well as at Kansas State University (2000-2002) and the University of Oklahoma (1992-1996). Her teaching experience ranges from introductory to senior capstone courses in the undergraduate CIS program and from core to upper-level graduate courses.
