Chankon Kim received his Ph.D. in marketing from Indiana University, Bloomington. Before coming to Saint Mary's 1997, he was on the faculty at Concordia University in Montreal. He has also given lectures at the University of Los Andes in Colombia, the University of the West Indies in Trinidad, and Tianjin University in China.

His teaching and research interests are in the areas of research methodology and consumer behaviour. His work has appeared in many marketing and psychology journals including Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Business Research, European Journal of Marketing, Canadian Journal of Administrative Sciences, Health Services Research, Journal of Economic Psychology, Journal of Cross-Cultural Psychology, International Journal of Intercultural Relations, and others. Most of the research conducted by Chankon and his team mates has been financially supported by such granting agencies as the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and Fonds pour la Formation de Chercheurs et l'Aide à la Recherche (FCAR).
