Dr. Najah Attig earned his PhD in Finance at Laval University in June 2003. Before joining Saint Mary's University (summer 2003), Dr. Attig has taught at several Business Schools including the University of Sherbrooke, the University of Quebec in Montreal, Laval University, and Tele-Université. He is currently a Professor of Finance at the Department of Finance and Management Science. He also served as consultant for some start-up firms.
Dr. Attig pioneered a corporate governance study on expropriation and protection of minority shareholders in Canada and their effects on corporate valuation and stock market liquidity. His paper on stock market liquidity and corporate governance won the Best Paper Award in Finance in Canada (ASAC 2003) and was ranked among Top Ten Download Paper at the EFMA (European Financial Management Association) 2003 meeting and SSRN (Social Science Research Network).. The Bank of Canada took notice of Dr. Attig's research and recently invited him to address the Financial Markets Department about the implications of his finding on the Canadian corporate landscape.
| RESEARCH Dr. Attig's expertise is in the fields of corporate governance, project financing, direct investments, corporate restructurings, stock market liquidity, mergers & acquisitions, and corporate valuation. He is considered an expert in Canadian corporate governance and actively participated to international and North-American research conferences. |
