In memory of Jack L. Ginsburg

Dr. Jack Ginsburg passed away on Thursday, August 20, 1998.

Dr. Jack Ginsburg joined the Chemistry Department at Saint Mary's University in 1969/1970 as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry. He was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in 1974 and to the rank of Professor of Chemistry in 1982. He was a Chair of the Chemistry Department and was extensively involved in activities that benefited the SMU community.

Dr. Ginsburg taught General Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Advanced Physical Chemistry. He was a recipient of the Father Stewart Medal for Excellence in Teaching. His research interests covered Quantum and Computational Chemistry.

Dr. Ginsburg was the Founding President of the SMU Faculty Union and in later years returned to serve as SMUFU President. He was also involved in activities of national and regional Union bodies such as CAUT and NSCUFA.
