Biographical Sketch
Dr. Clyburne, a native of Nova Scotia, obtained a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry at Dalhousie University under the supervision of Professor Neil Burford where he studied reactive phosphorous cations. He then joined the research group of Professor Alan Cowley at the University of Texas at Austin where he examined the coordination chemistry of main group elements. His research interests are covered by the broad umbrella of Green chemistry with research in ionic liquids, catalysis, and hydrogen storage.

My current research interests include:
- Green Chemistry: Reactivity of nucleophilic carbenes and basic main group element compounds with small molecules and the importance of carbenes in inonic liquids (More Info)

- Main Group Chemistry: Synthesis and computational studies on highly reactive species and/or polarized molecules (More Info)
