Centre for Environmental Analysis and Remediation (CEAR)

The Centre for Environmental Analysis and Remediation (CEAR) was established in 2000 as a research facility to promote and encourage scientific research activities at Saint Mary’s University.

The laboratory supports both teaching and research activities and offers scientists access to current instrumentation technology for chemical analysis in the areas of chromatography, mass spectrometry and element analyses. These technologies are particularly suitable for:

  • Separation and purification of compounds in mixtures
  • Structural interpretation and identification of diverse organic compounds
  • Quantification of elements and compounds
  • Evaluation of purity of synthesized compounds
  • Characterization of unknown substances

CEAR also offers the service of analysis of samples to internal and external users and guidance in the development of methodology, data acquisition and instrument use. Contact Us to discuss in detail the requirements of your research projects or for more information about our laboratory services.
