Continuing Education

Welcome to Continuing Education

There are lots of ways to continue your learning, and lots of benefits too!   The Division of Continuing Education is here to help you achieve your learning goals.  You can choose to take university courses, executive and professional development courses, or come to lectures and events.

On this site you will find information about how to choose among credit and non-credit courses; programs offered in the evening, off-campus and through the web; programs to help prepare you for undergraduate study and for the GMAT test; and how to navigate your way through university. Check out the section on Adult Learner Services.

If you have been out of school for a while, come see us!  Did you know we have over 1000 students on campus 25 years of age and over?  More than 20,000 professionals have taken courses from our Executive and Professional Development program.  We can give you some advice on how to begin and what to expect.

If you are an employer wondering about the benefits of investing in your staff, rest assured we strive to make the most of your limited training dollars. We constantly monitor business needs to offer relevant programs, and we understand the need to provide value for your investment.  Check out the section on Employer Benefits under the Adult Learner Services.

Metro Transit Strike

The union that represents bus operators, ferry crews, fleet mechanics and other Metro Transit employees will be in a legal strike position on Thursday, February 2.

Negotiations are ongoing, but in the event of a transit work stoppage, bus and ferry service would cease in HRM; however, courses will be running as scheduled at all extension centres.  We understand traffic and parking may become an issue, and you may be delayed.  If so, please contact your instructor directly.

To get the latest information on the dispute, students, faculty and staff should monitor the Metro Transit website: http://halifax.ca/metrotransit/.
