2012 Expression of Interest Form

Dates: July 16 to August 17, 2012 (Dates are approximate and may change during the early part of 2012)

Participation Fee: 

$2,000.00 (CAD).  This figure is an estimate and is subject to change. This payment covers all meals and lodging associated with the course and course material.  It does not include travel to Italy and tuition and fees.

Academic Credit:

6.0 credit hours (Two 3.0 credit hour courses, CLAS 3610 and CLAS 3611)

Tuition and Fees:  

For 6.0 credit hours at Saint Mary's University. The cost varies depending on a student's status (Canadian vs. International)

Meals:  

Lunch taken in the field; Supper taken at a local restaurant.  Price included in participation fee.

Daily Schedule:  

Work in the field will take place Sunday to Thursday from 6:00 am until 12:30 - 1:00 pm.   Work on finds processing from 2:00 - 3:30 pm.  Towards the end of the field school, students will concentrate solely on finds processing in the lab. Weekends are free, but we will try to organize guided tours to nearby archaeological sites for those who are interested.  There will be one long-weekend of three or four days around the beginning of August (exact dates to be determined). We will also work closely with a Bioarchaeological field school run through the Department of Anthropology at McMaster University and an excavation field school run through the Department of Classics at Mount Allison University, so there may be the possibility for students to participate in these other projects.
