ExplanationThe Departments of Geography at Université de Moncton
and Mount Allison University combined to host the Annual Meeting of the
Canadian Association of Geographers Annual Meeting in Moncton, May 25-29,
2004. No separate meeting in the fall, the traditional season of the
ACAG Annual Meeting, was intended to be held in 2004.
A discussion held
with the Executive and membership of ACAG via the GEOATL-L mailing list was
conducted in June, 2004. The discussion focused on whether a formal
Annual Meeting should be held in 2004; and, if not, how the critical
business of electing new Executive members and identifying site(s) for
future meeting(s) should be conducted.
The electronic discussion resulted
in the following decisions being made:
1. There was no formal ACAG
meeting held in 2004.
2. Interested individuals were encouraged to
attend the NESTVAL (New England-St. Lawrence Valley Division of the American
Association of Geographers) meeting in Portland, Maine, October 15-16, 2004.
3. The election of new Executive members was held by "distance"
voting.
4. A prior decision had been made to hold the
2005 ACAG Annual Meeting in Newfoundland.
