Red Stoneware

A stoneware that was sometimes described as "red porcelain." The pieces were usually engine-turned and dry-bodied.

Teapots are the most common form, usually copying silver designs. These were decorated with moulded sprigged ornament in rococo motifs. Teapots were also engine-turned , and some were lead glazed (which covered the red body).

The red wares were produced primarily by English potters.
