9 October, 2015
During Fall Convocation ceremonies on Friday, October 16th in the McNally Theatre Auditorium, Saint Mary’s University will confer honorary degrees upon three individuals who have a record of distinguished achievement and remarkable service.
The University is pleased to recognize the extraordinary contributions of Jean-Paul Deveau, President of Acadian Seaplants Limited, Dr. A. Wayne MacKay, a law professor and consultant, and Dr. D. Brian O’Brien, a retired Ophthalmic surgeon.
“Saint Mary’s motto, Age Quod Agis, is a call for us to act in the world, to shoulder responsibility, and to champion social justice, environmental justice and ethical values,” said Saint Mary’s University President, Dr. Robert Summerby-Murray. “These values are well reflected in the three individuals to be recognized with honorary degrees during my first Convocation at Saint Mary’s University as President and Vice-Chancellor.”
On October 16th at 11 a.m., J.P. (Jean Paul) Deveau will receive a Doctor of Commerce, Honoris Causa during a Convocation ceremony for undergraduate programs in the Sobey School of Business. A.
